The second edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro International Award was celebrated in a dual ceremony which took place in Milan and Hangzhou. Eleven winning projects which triumphed in their development of the theme of Sport - Performance and Innovation

«The world of design is rapidly evolving, continuously tackling unprecedented technological challenges and satisfying demands for experiencing the future, on a daily basis. In this sense the sports world is in a privileged position, with materials and technologies always tested to extremes, in its quest to break all records and limits». The Chairman of ADI Luciano Galimberti perfectly explains the strong ties between design and sports, increasingly interconnected in subliminal manifestations of unlimited human capabilities, both of a creative and physical nature.

The second edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award is official proof of this affinity, enriching world design according to quality criteria that have accompanied the Compasso d'Oro along the success story of Italian design, developed around the guiding theme of Sport - Performance and Innovation.

79 selected products and services, with one Honourable Mention. 10 winners selected by an expert jury, with members from the project world and from sectors pertaining to sports performance and organisation, celebrated in a dual award ceremony held in Milan and Hangzhou.

Here are the winners: Bike Trolley by Sentier (design Andrea Signoretto) which resolves the bike carry problem; Bolide TT by Cicli Pinarello (design Fausto Pinarello), the lightest ever Pro Tour racing bike; the Camping Ultralight Bed by KingCamp (design Hong Zhiping) which reinterprets a camping classic with the intelligent use of contemporary materials; the innovative camping stove Campstove 2 by BioLite (design Anton Ljunggren, Tim Connelly, Mindy Abbruzzi) which is also a lighting and electrical charging device; the ski boot Dahu – Hades, conceived and produced by DAHU Sports Company, according to a project centred around comfort and practicality of use for skiers, without compromising on high performance; The Olympic Opening Ceremony – Rio 2016 was also awarded (project by Marco Balich – CC 2016), a successful combination of grandiosity (albeit with minimal resources), creativity and emotion, as well as the protection systemPro-Armor by Dainese; Skillmill by Technogym (design Technogym Design Center), entirely manual equipment which enables a full body work out; Tarta Emys by Tarta Design (design Marco Galante – Tarta Design), a solution which bolsters physical performance but above all provides additional comfort to the moral condition of disabled persons; the shoe Vibram Furoshiki, conceived and manufactured by Vibram, which perfectly adapts to the foot's form.

The ADI Young Start-Up Award also took place, dedicated to projects developed at an international level by young designers which this year went to Tritone, a  project by Gao Changyue and Guo Jiani from the Milan Polytechnic University: headphones which provide entertainment while monitoring the wearer's condition while swimming.
